Residential and commercial earthwork in Washington County and the surrounding area. We own our equipment, employ our own operators, and handle jobs from small residential lots to multi-acre commercial sites.
Clearing, grading, and compacting a site before construction starts. We strip topsoil, establish grades for drainage, create building pads, and prep the ground for foundations, slabs, or footings. Whether it's a new home site, a commercial building pad, or a barn foundation, the site work sets the tone for everything built on top of it.
New septic system installation, including tank placement, drain field excavation, distribution box setup, and connection to the home. We also repair failing systems: collapsed lines, saturated drain fields, damaged tanks, and D-box replacements. All installs meet Indiana State Department of Health requirements and pass county health department inspection.
Broken, collapsed, or root-infiltrated sewer lines. We locate the failure, excavate to the damaged section, and either spot-repair or replace the full line depending on the condition. On older clay or orangeburg pipe, full replacement with modern PVC is usually the right call. We backfill, compact, and restore the surface when the job is done.
New gravel driveway installation, regrading of existing drives, culvert pipe replacement, and drainage improvements. We strip the old surface if needed, establish proper crown and grade for water runoff, lay geotextile fabric where soil conditions call for it, and spread and compact aggregate. We also pour concrete driveways and aprons.
Clearing brush, trees, stumps, and debris from residential and commercial lots. We also handle structure demolition, including old outbuildings, sheds, foundations, and concrete removal. Material gets hauled off or pushed and buried on site depending on county regulations and your preference. We leave the lot graded and ready for the next phase.
Trenching and installing new waterlines from the main to the structure. We also trench for underground electrical conduit, gas lines (conduit only: gas fitting by others), and communication lines. On projects where the electrical needs to be run underground to an outbuilding, a pool equipment pad, or a detached garage, our electrical division handles the wiring while we handle the trench. One crew, one trench, one backfill.
Stabilizing slopes, directing water runoff, and preventing soil loss on residential and commercial properties. We install silt fencing, erosion blankets, rip-rap, drainage swales, and French drains. On construction sites, we handle erosion control as part of the site prep scope to keep the project compliant with stormwater regulations.
Commercial lot clearing, residential driveway plowing, sidewalk clearing, and salt/sand application. We run our own equipment: skid steers with pushers for lots, trucks with plows for driveways, and walk-behind blowers for sidewalks. Available 24/7 during winter weather events.
WHY N&M EXCAVATING
Most excavation contractors dig the trench and leave. If your project also needs electrical underground feeds to an outbuilding, pool equipment wiring, or a new service entrance from the road, that’s usually a second contractor, a second schedule, and a second bill.
N&M Excavating is a division of Twisted Electric LLC. When your excavation project involves electrical work, we handle both. The trench gets dug, the conduit gets laid, the wire gets pulled, and the backfill happens, all on the same day, by the same company. No coordination headaches between your excavator and your electrician.
If your job is excavation-only: a driveway, a septic install, land clearing, we handle that just as well. The electrical capability is there when you need it. When you don’t, you’re still getting an experienced excavation crew with our own equipment and 20+ years in the field.
